Procedure for Performing a Clean Windows Boot

By starting your computer with just the most necessary services and drivers, a clean boot in Windows aids in troubleshooting. This procedure assists in locating program conflicts that may be resulting in issues with apps, updates, or system performance.

Step 1: Launch MS Configuration (System Configuration)

The Run dialog box can be accessed by pressing Windows + R on your keyboard. Click OK or hit Enter after typing msconfig.

Step 2: Turn Off Non-Microsoft Services

Go to the Services tab in the System Configuration window. To prevent turning off necessary Windows services, check the box labeled “Hide all Microsoft services.” To disable non-Microsoft services, click Disable all.

Step 3: Turn Off Startup Applications

Navigate to the System Configuration window’s Startup tab. Select “Open.”

Step 4: Restart Your Computer

Go back to the System Configuration window after closing Task Manager. After selecting Apply, select OK. To use the clean boot settings, restart your PC.

Step 5:How to Get Back to a Regular Startup

You can resume a typical startup after troubleshooting by:

  1. Restarting MS Configuration.
  2. Under the General tab, choose Normal startup.
  3. Reversing the previous steps will re-enable services and startup programs.

Software conflicts, sluggish performance, startup problems, and Windows update failures can all be diagnosed with a Clean Boot.
