  1. Stop Windows Update Services

    net stop wuauserv
    net stop bits
  2. Navigate to the Software Distribution Folder
    Go to the folder path: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.
  3. Rename the Folder
    Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder and select Rename. You can change it to something like SoftwareDistribution.old to ensure a fresh start.
  4. Restart Windows Update Services
    After renaming the folder, return to Command Prompt and start the services again with the following commands:

    net start wuauserv
    net start bits
  5. Check Windows Update
    After restarting the services, run Windows Update to see if the issue is resolved.
