Windows Event Log Service

Manage the Windows Event Log Service

The Windows Event Log service records system, security, and application events, helping diagnose and troubleshoot issues. Follow these steps to manage it:

  1. Open the Services Manager
Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Locate the Windows Event Log Service
Scroll down to find Windows Event Log in the list.
  3. Check the Service Status
Ensure the status is Running to confirm it is active.
  4. Restart or Stop the Service
Right-click Windows Event Log and select Restart or Stop if troubleshooting requires it.
  5. Set the Startup Type
Right-click the service, choose Properties, and set Startup type to Automatic, Manual, or Disabled, depending on your needs.
  6. View Event Logs
Open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc) to analyze system logs for errors, warnings, or informational messages.

⚠ Important: Stopping this service will prevent Windows from logging events, which may make troubleshooting more difficult. Only stop it temporarily if necessary.
