Open search tool in your Windows and type “Services.msc.”
Open the first app that appears.
Find the ‘Background Intelligent Transfer Service.’ Open it via double-clicking it.
A popup window will appear.
In the general tab, click the ‘stop’ button, which is below ‘service status: Running.’
Allow it to complete.
Click ‘Apply’ then press ‘Ok.’
Similarly, in the services windows, find the option ‘Windows Update.’ Double click it to open it.
In the general tab, stop it (same as above)
Click ‘Apply’ then press ‘Ok.’
Now navigate to ‘This PC – C Drive – Windows – SoftwareDistribution.’
There you will find a folder named ‘DataStore’ and ‘Download.’
Remove all the content from these folders.
Now start the ‘Services.msc.’ app once again.
Now start the services that you stopped earlier. You can open then and then click the ‘start’ button in the general category tab.
After doing so, restart your PC.
Now open ‘Internet Explorer’ and go to the following URL: www.catalog.update.microsoft.com
At the bottom of the window, you will see an Install popup. Click it.
Wait till it loads. Now type ‘Windows 8.1 Updates’
Select the updates that you wish to install by adding them.
After adding them, click the ‘view basket’ option under the search bar.
Click the ‘Download’ button and then choose a folder. Click ‘continue.’
Once they are downloaded, you can install them via clicking them.
